No Tesla app
That of Tesla2023.12 software-updatebrings many new features and improvements, but the undocumented changes are some of the most intriguing. These small, lesser-known updates improve the user experience and demonstrate Tesla's commitment to continuous innovation. So far we have spottedten undocumented changesin the latest build.
Automatic emergency braking
Automatic emergency brakinghas been improved and now stops for perpendicular vehicles and supports higher speeds of up to 200 km/h. It also has limited assist when reversing.
Tesla has slightly updated the rear camera app, there is now a separate button in the top right corner to show or hide your repeater cameras. To hide and show your repeater cameras, you previously had to swipe up or down on the rear camera feed.
The vehicle visualization that appears when parked can now be rotated for different viewing angles. This one isn't used in the real world, but it's fun to see all the details Tesla put into the visualization.
Each search result now displays the distance from your current location
No Tesla app
When searching for a destination, each search result now shows the distance from your current location. Tesla has also made the pin look more like a button, to make it clear that it is a separate button. Tapping the name will take you directly to the destination, while tapping the pushpin will show more details about the destination, including ratings, phone number, and photos.
Change the vehicle name in the app
You can now rename your vehicle from within the app
Owners can now rename their vehicles directly through the Tesla app. Just tap on the current name, enter the new one and hit "OK".
The speedometer is now more visible
The speedometer font has a little more weight, making it more visible at a glance.
Adjust wiper speed
You can finally adjust your windshield wipers without going through menus
Drivers can adjust the wiper speed without touching the touchscreen. On a Model 3 or Y, you need to tap the button at the end of the left handle. This will clear the windshield once and display the wiper controls on the screen. You can then tilt the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel to cycle through the different wiper speeds.
Users have more control over air suspension settings, including enabling and disabling altitude and speed adjustments for a particular location.
An icon with a plus sign (+) replaces the heart for favorite songs. Same functionality, but for some reason Tesla felt that a plus sign worked better with the different music services.
Tesla Theater Icons
Tesla Theater icons are now square, app-like icons instead of horizontal logos, which just happen to match theWeChat-appsTesla released in China. Could this mean something more?
When you open the app drawer by tapping the ellipsis in the launcher, all available options are now displayed. A Customize button has also been added at the top for easy access.
Updated loading screen
The charging menu has been updated
The charging menu in Controls > Charging has also been given a facelift. The unnecessary vehicle visualization is now gone, making the battery slider much larger and easier to use. It is also much smoother than in previous versions.
You've probably noticed this one already, but Tesla has started adding "New" labels to every new option or feature. Tesla will likely continue to add these labels in future updates to make owners more aware of any changes.
Tesla 2023.12 update is the biggest and most exciting since theHoliday update 2022. This update also includes the ability to answer your phone using the steering wheelcustomize popular featuressuch as changing the gear mode and changing the HVAC fan speed, all without touching the screen.

Elon Musk talks about his successor in a WSJ interview
In an insightful hour-long interview in the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council, Elon Musk gave a rare insight into his thoughts on the complicated issue of succession. He framed the complexity of this challenge in a historical context, emphasizing that it is an age-old problem that has plagued not only corporations, but also nations, kings, prime ministers and presidents through the annals of history.
Identify potential successors
Musk revealed that he has identified potential successors he believes can lead proficiently after his tenure. He brought these individuals to the attention of the board and provided them with his personal recommendations. However, he clearly indicated that the final decision rests with the board. Musk noted, "They can choose to go in a different direction, but they know who my recommendation is."
An intriguing point of discussion during the interview revolved around the stewardship of the companies Musk has built. He expressed a deep sense of responsibility, noting, "The companies that I have founded and that I am collectively creating have enormous capacity, which is why stewardship of them is incredibly important." These comments underlined the enormous influence these companies exert on society and civilization.
The challenge of stewardship and control
Interestingly, Musk confessed hisopenness to outside suggestionscontrol of the companies, a rarity for the famously confident CEO. He admitted, "The control question is a much more difficult question, and something I struggle with, and I'm honestly open to ideas." This statement represented an unusual invitation to new insights into managing the future stewardship of his pioneering ventures.
Furthermore, Musk delved into his aspirations for his companies, with a special focus on Tesla, to make a positive contribution to humanity. One idea he shared was to create an educational institution that would exercise most of his voting rights. Still, he stressed that automatic takeover of control by his children was out of the question, especially if they had no interest or ability to run the companies effectively.
Tesla's contributions to renewable energy
Turning to Tesla's performance, Musk painted a vivid picture of the company's important role in accelerating theemergence of sustainable energy. He claimed, "Tesla's original goal was to accelerate the advent of renewable energy, and I think we've done that in a significant way." He also shared his satisfaction that other industry leaders have recognized Tesla's pioneering role in this revolution.
On the topic of Tesla's pursuitself-driving technology,Musk expressed optimism about achieving substantial progress within the year. He also predicted that this technology milestone would usher in substantial positive cash flow for the company.
Musk's extended discussion offered illuminating reflections on the critical issue of succession planning and Tesla's lasting influence. His open invitation to outside ideas on business management, coupled with his determination to ensure the continuity of Tesla's mission, underline his recognition of the seriousness of his leadership role and his genuine commitment to ensuring the long-term positive impact of his companies on humanity. to set. This interview promises to spark further dialogue about Tesla's future trajectory and the broader implications of succession planning in innovative companies.

Elon Musk reveals that Tesla will announce a new gigafactory this year
Tesla CEO Elon Musk dropped a major piece of news during his recent appearance on the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council. Tesla is preparing to announce another gigafactory location before the end of this year. This future development underscores Tesla's continued aggressive expansion on a global scale.
Musk's announcement has naturally sparked speculation about the location of this forthcoming gigafactory. During the interview, when asked about India's potential as a factory site, Musk answered in the affirmative. However, he stopped short of confirming decisive plans for the South Asian country.
Elon Musks Wall WSJ-interview
India: a potential destination amid challenges
Recent posts fromReutersadded fuel to this speculative fire. The news agency reported that Tesla has proposed to the Indian government the possibility of setting up a production unit in the country. The idea of a Tesla factory ties in with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing "Make in India" initiative. However, previous talks were halted over disagreements over India's high import taxes, and there is no concrete confirmation that the proposal will go through.
At the same time, another potential contender for Tesla's new gigafactory location has been suggested byindustry observers - Canada. The North American country offers an attractive proposition due to its commitment to clean energy initiatives, abundant resources and proximity to Tesla's home market of the United States. However, as with India, there has been no official confirmation, and discussions of a potential Canadian gigafactory are speculative at this point.
Anticipating the impact of Tesla's expansion
What is definitive from Musk's announcement is that Tesla's ambitious global expansion plans are well underway. With theGigafactory in Mexicoon the road and another location to be revealed soon, Tesla continues to reinforce its mission to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy. The choice of location for the new gigafactory will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the local economy, Tesla's growth trajectory and the global EV industry.
One of Tesla's goals is to produce approximately 20 million vehicles annually. Elon Musk previously stated:
"Eventually we will probably build at least 10 or 12 Gigafactories and those will be really big Gigafactories aiming for an average output of 1.5 to 2 million units per factory, which is huge."
Tesla's vision of a sustainable future and its commitment to increasing production capacity reflects the company's growth and the growth of the clean energy movement worldwide. As Tesla continues to chart its path, the world watches, anticipating the exciting announcement of a new gigafactory by the end of the year. We are closely monitoring developments and will provide updates as they become available.
