Didn't even know these metal voting combs existed...thanks for the pointers. Went ahead and grabbed the 1/2 + 1 1/2 set for my senior clippers 🙂

Any idea why Wahl isn't producing Guardian #9?
I find #8 too short and #10 too long.
      Ideally I would like a 28mm cut.
Anyone have a guard that length?
      Many Thanks

Looking for comb guide #10, #12 and #14 with metal clips. Where can you find them? Many Thanks.

      Hallo Roger!

Unfortunately, we haven't seen any metal guards longer than the #8 included in Wahl's set. Seems like they limited the premium feature to shorter, "standard" sizes.

I haven't seen him perform a #0 guard for the Walhs brand. Guy Yhu should read it again before commenting

I use 0.1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2 to fade my own hair. Do they do a 2 1/2? I'm trying to blend into a 3 & 4 but leaves a line. I'm not good enough to get rid of lines without protection and a comb or scissors like you pros! Thanks very much!

Use the osters they have with the metal blades going from 000 to 3. This is how you can put the 3 metal blade on the No. 8 plastic guard. Same as #11. I found 8-12 watches for Easter

U listed the choice clip/comb sizes wrong, there is no zero comb for choice, there is the half clip and where is the 1 and 1/2 clip? Also a #2 detachable blade is well known in the industry for being longer than the #2 detachable blade, they listed that the #2 detachable blade leaves the hair longer. Why?

My choices are clippers and #40, 10, 7, 5, 4, and 3 1/4 blades. I just bought the Electoral Guides but I have no idea what blades to use with them. Do I just use the #40 or #10 or do I use all the other blades depending on the extra length I want?

      Hello Sam!

That's a line of dog clippers you're talking about, right? Human clippers don't come in sizes like #40, #10, etc. It's a matter of personal preference - some people just clean by changing blades, others by adding more guides.

Which guides did you buy, btw? Human clippers and dog clippers are a little different.

#10 is the standard dog clipper blade that you will see on most clippers. Beginners tend to use it as it leaves the hair long enough to be comfortable for most breeds.

Scroll to the very bottom of our article here to learn more about all dog blade sizes:https://www.hairclippersclub.com/best-dog-clippers-dog-grooming-scissors-guide/

As said, most beginners go for #10, but also read this guide on breeds (not sure which one is yours):https://clipperworld.com.au/which-clipper-blade-breed-guide-i6.html

Just remember that some clippers can get hot. Provide a cooling spray/take breaks in between!

Hey man, nice post. However, one question remains. What size is it when I close my Oster Fast Feed with Andis magnetic combs?

Is it Andis magnetic combs + 0.5mm?

    answer

  6. violinon August 15, 2017 at 00:08

On a Wahl Senior, when the blade is closed without a guard, it is 0.5 mm. How many milliliters is it when the voting seniors are completely open without protection? Is it 1.4mm?

    answer

    • Alexon Aug 15, 2017 at 2:27 am

      hey violin,

You mean the regular seniors not the 5 stars right?

It should be ~# 1/2 Wahl Guard in length, or about 1.5mm when open without the Guard.

      Prost!

I have Oyster Classic 76. Can you use Andis blades with it? If so, have you noticed a difference between these blades and Oster.

    answer

    • Ryanon October 9, 2017 at 6:07 am

      Hello Chelsea.

You CAN use Andis blades with Oster clippers (and vice versa). And they would work reasonably well, but there's one small issue: the hinges.

Oster clippers are made to have narrower hinges; Andis are wider. This could make the blades noisier and affect their cutting precision.

      Here's a good short resource on that:http://www.lovessharpening.com/images/switchingclippers_pdf.pdf

      hope this helped

      Hey Donna!

When talking about the 5-in-1 fine blade, it's typically used for pets, not humans. Can you confirm which one it is?

Animal clipper sizes and human clipper sizes differ greatly.

    Many thanks.

Hello Celia. Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, you cannot swap out the guards for the Wahl Chromando Lithium. You must use the 5-in-1 blade.
      Second, the Wahl Chromando Lithium comes with the following guide combs for attachments: 6 guide combs for attachments: (#1 -1/8" (3mm) cut; #2 -1/4" (6mm) cut; # .3 -1/3” (9mm) cut; #4 -1/2" (12mm) cut; #6 -3/4" (18mm) cut; #8 -1" (25mm)

Hi! Do all wahl guards fit all wahl clippers?
    / Morgan

    answer

    • Alexon May 3, 2018 at 8:58 am

Hello Morgan. Thank you for your message. From what I can see the color coated plastic Wahl guards should fit full size Wahl clippers, which excludes trimmers.
Wahl metal clipper guards are compatible with most major clippers, except for the Wahl competitive range and detachable blades.

Can anyone tell me what the equivalent protection size is for the two sides of Wahl's right and left earmuffs? It looks like it could taper from a 2 guard on the high side to a 1 guard on the short side, but I'm not sure. I wish they had different lengths on the tapered guards, I think they could really help with the fade.

    • Alexon June 23, 2018 at 3:30 p.m

Hello Jason. Good question. Wahl left and right ear cone protectors range from 1/8" to 1/2" so the equivalent protector size would be a 4 on the high side and a 1 on the low side. That's a good idea. I definitely agree with you there.

The Wahl #12 or 1 + 1/2 inch guard is not the largest guard size designed for human hair. There are actually generic #16 guards for Wahl Clippers that are made by a third party and allow the hair to be clipped to about 2 inches in length. I believe the company that makes them is called Clipquik and they are compatible with Wahl clippers and maybe Conair clippers too. If your clipper has a side lever for an adjustable length, you can even use it to trim almost 2 + 1/4 inch hair. I sport a shorter classic style mullet hairstyle and use either the #12 or #16 guard with the long lever setting for length in the front, top and sides. There is no taper. I use an electric vacuum hair clipper (not mentioned on this page) or have another person cut/trim the longer section of hair in the back. I've been cutting my hair in this style since 2005 with minor changes made since then.

I bought my dad's old Renown Ace Clippers from Eaton's Of Canada from the 1950's. The instructions recommend Wahl oil for lubrication and the underside of the blades says "WAHL 000 SOLID". It is in great condition and I would happily use it again. I am interested in purchasing new fenders but not sure if the current Wahl fenders will fit. Can you help me?

I am assuming this was an item manufactured by Wahl under license/contract for a major retailer at the time (like Sears in the US). Wahl clippers haven't really changed in their basic design in years - neither have Andis and Oster, so I'd bet money on modern guards that work well. If not, check out Speed-o-Guide combs.

What would the crop sizes be if, for example, election protectors are used in the direction of hair growth, e.g. B. on the head?

Is there a way to set up a hair clipper to cut at 1-3/8"? I've looked everywhere and there doesn't seem to be a #11 guard. I've been cutting my own hair for a while and it just seems like that the #10 is too short even when I use the lever on the clippers, and the #12 is too long.
